15 Union alumni to be honored at Nov. 6 banquet
JACKSON, Tenn. – Oct. 26, 2015 – Union University will recognize 15 alumni for outstanding achievements in their respective fields Nov. 6 at the Meritorious Service Awards Banquet during Homecoming weekend.
While Union in years past has typically presented three-to-five alumni awards during Homecoming, this year’s slate of recipients has been expanded significantly to allow the university to acknowledge more alumni for their work and service in different professions.
CUNY School of Public Health Selected to Evaluate Community Impact by Food Industry-led Hunger and Obesity Effort
NEW YORK – The City University of New York School of Public Health
(CUNY SPH) has been selected to provide evaluation and external validation of community programs that encourage active, healthy lifestyles, which are sponsored by major food and beverage companies. The initiative, an academic research partnership called Commitment to Healthy Communities, is an agreement between the Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation (HWCF) and the CUNY SPH to catalog, assess and report upon the quality and impact of these programs in communities in the U.S.

Silver Spring, Md. – The Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation (HWCF), a CEO-led coalition of more than 275 organizations dedicated to helping families and schools fight childhood obesity, and Discovery Education, the leading provider of digital content and professional development for K-12 classrooms, announced today the winners of the 2015 Healthy Playground Makeover Sweepstakes and Smart from the Start Awards, annually offered incentive programs from Together Counts™. Designed to encourage students to live active and healthy lives, these programs aim to increase the impact of health and wellness programs both in and out of school, and will ultimately award more than $100,000 in prizes to deserving schools across the nation.
